While Niall is not my real brother but in my mind he is. I meet Niall of spring of 1995, our ship just returned to Japan after six months in the gulf and we had huge influx of new people joining the ship. Our shop had six new bodies, Niall being one of the shorter ones kind of stood out. He was assigned to me to show him around and get him checked in all the departments gets a rack. this lead to friendship that lasted to date,
We don’t live in the state or city anymore. But because of this friend is how I meet Melissa because his wife and the time worked together, I had moved out to Oregon to be his best man in his wedding and he was mine in our wedding. We worked for the same company while I lived in Portland.
While in the Navy Niall had some grand adventures and I mean some adventures, I know most you think I’m some clean cut young man , but the truth be told we had some fun. We would pool our money and pack our backpacks and jump on a train and just get lost for a weekend sleeping trains, benches and beaches we just go until we could go anymore then stand and march forward. But we always started will “you know we stand pack a couple of bottles and a least a carton of smokes for the trip“. Drinking was huge part of what we did. At work we could be the most responsible workers in our shop would work until something fixed or work was done, when we were done we hit the beach hard. It was normal to drink until the bars closed at 5:00am and still show up to work on the weekend for duty. I’m proud of some of things we did but I would trade them for anything.
We got out the Navy at the same time in Dec of 1997 we still hang out after. When I got home it seemed like that drinking was not important to me and was something I did every so often and am same way now. If you open my frig you would find a beer or two in there. I like good beer . Niall on the other hand just could not slow down. While living out west I picked were we left off having fun but slowed down after a couple of months. He just kept running will the ball.
Last year he got his first DUI and that slowed him a bit, then . until he call the other night. He told that they had been skiing on Mt Hood and party all weekend long an stayed to night had to much to drink, and six hours later when drove back to work still blew .20 bac, in most state .008 is the limit so more than 2 times over. Now he is headed back to Utah where his folks live to try start over , get the help he needs and pick up where he left off at.
When we talk its like never left one another but we took two different paths in life. And now he seeing that path he is on need a change of course. We talk about church, the VA for help will this problem any time will talk at least now he is ready to face this problem and for that I’m proud of him but its long road ahead of him. If anyone would pray for him his name is Niall Wade. I know it will help and maybe he can get to know God though the battle and give it to him. thanks Ryan

well now we know

It's no longer a tied ball game the guys will lead. As I got closer to the car I noticed that it had out state plates as I passed her to turn at the light I saw that she was an older lady. Well I was way off on that one, she was driving US-12 for the first time it was dark and there are allot deer that run that road. I judged her wrong.
Yesterday at work I had a stop where I dropped off a Frig and stove to a guy was putting it in his rental property, at first glance he had a shaved head long goatee and ear rings sound familiar. We got to talk talking and said he was from that west coast, So we began to talk about that we had both lived in Portland Or. Which lead me to the next question what lead you hear to Michigan? Well you see I am Pastor at a church here in town, didn’t see that one coming which lead into another conversation.
Why do we do judged what we see and hear, instead of the actually seeing who this person or what they are about? I don’t like to be judged for the way I dress or the car I drive. I am just person just like the rest a child of God. Its not my place to judge but I do for that reason I try and try but some times I fail but I know that next time I will try to look will open eyes and an open heart. Those snapshots you take of person are just one side of what you actually see not the whole person.

Matthew 7.1
Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

Matthew 7.2
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Part I of many

Part I

Well last post of the year. This morning I was standing in the rear getting ready to serve juice for communion, and I was looking over the group seeing where we all sit. The Nevins in their spot, Melissa close by, Ray and Sherri close by too, Don in the front, Lou and crew front and center Sam and Laura would be close to their sport if they where home. Which lead to think we all have a place where sit and place where we stand, but is that enough?
Last week while working I noticed some young men dress in black jackets and slacks with little nametags from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints out doing their thing. I don’t share all there beliefs we do have some in common. Which lead me more thinking I help out on Sunday morning greeting for may-be one hour a week three out of four weekends a month which is may come out to be four hour a month or 48 hours/ six days a year. Just doing my part, now the boys in black if they do that eight hours a day, five days a week comes out to 2080 hours or rounded up to 260 days of giving to the church plus they do it for two year so double that number. Which means I would have to spend 23 years giving one-hour greeting just equal their two years. I’m willing to guess that they just don’t stop when their time is up either too.
How can I give more? Which leads me to these New Year Resolutions

Be a better husband (I know most think Melissa is sooooo lucky to have me but its the other way around) call when I'm going to be late

Be a better father spend more quality time with them, turn off the TV

Everyone favorite lose some weight (for me and my kids)

Learn play the guitar better I may never lead worship butI would like to be able play at a camp fire some day

Invite someone to church twice if I have to

Be a better friend to anyone who needs one

And to love like I am loved
These are just few of the things running through my mind and few you know me, my mind is it own world in its self.
More to come be blessed

My Day

It’s been awhile since my last post so I thought I would tell you all about my day. I made it to work only six minutes late ,good start. Bob one of my drivers was running late, normal, so I started to pull his loads, he showed up just as grumpy as always is in the morning. This past couple of weeks I have been working a lot of hours which means less time at home with Melissa and kids, missing church, then to top it off I was told starting soon I will be working a floating shift, which means one whole weekend off a month which gives me two Sundays a month, now I’m really not a big fan of work. Bonus wife is not a big fan of Lowe’s either.
Being that I have worked a lot I have overtime at big evil and big evil does not like overtime, they are not a fan of OT, so I got to cut out early from work to cut some hours. Head out to Ypsilanti to see my grandma in the care home, she’s not a fan of people visiting for too long. Had to drag my heels to keep her talking, spent about 15 minutes talking and listening to her, one wise lady. Soon after I headed towards Tecumseh to pick up the kids, but first stopped in Milan to see Jay and watched cartoons with him good time, then off to town, saw Tom working in the new office helped hang a blind, its going to be a great place for NewSong and the rest of us, still heading towards getting the kids and saw that Jim and Donna’s garage was open had to stop and say hello to Jim and get a hug, not to many hugs like Jims. At last I made it to pick up my babies and see the most wonderful woman in the whole wide world, my wife and go home and cook a good hot meal. And eat dinner as a family. And that's my day so far. Be blessed because someone is a fan of you!!

prayer request

Well my grandma goes this Friday for surgery to remove the mass on her liver. To me this hard thing to deal within my life so far I have not lost anyone that is very close to me there is always the chance that something could go wrong. She’s going up to the U of M which the best place to go for that type of help. Plus Sam can peak in on her too. So if you could keep her in your prayer, the doctors and nurses treating her and the rest of the family too. thanks Ryan

my day

Today Connor and I are having a boy’s day of playing and doing boy things. For those who didn’t know Melissa is working now. Which gives me a day to enjoy with my boy, Like playing listening music and trying to dance if you have never seen me dance ask Melissa or there is that episode on Seinfeld where Elaine dances just to put a picture in your head (mainly for Kelly and Laura to try to get that other one out). Well if my son is anything like his father he also can not dance, but we have fun. Then nap to getting out guitars to make alot more noise. So there is my day in a nutshell, oh yes there is some cleaning involved in the day. If any of that have boys know what 'm talking about and he checked like three more time before I got him to tub. She is kind of lady who would tell you she is doing fine and could be in pain and just not want to tell you, and I wonder where I got this. For me this is going to been long rough road for me and the rest of my family, my mother, her brothers and the rest of the grandkids. Being her choice she does not want to doing any treatment so just wants to go when it her time. Which is hard for some to understand. I believe that just wants to be with her loved ones and it’s her time to go.

My grandma is just one of people that when I having a bad day just talking to her changes my moods and the way I feel. In the middle of winter we talk about and out of the blue just think only six weeks to spring or something along these lines she just makes me smile. If she does that to me she most do that for the rest of the family too. So if you could keep my grandma Liz in our prayers please for her and the family that would be great. thanks be blessed Ryan

seeds

The last couple of days I have been thinking about how I got to this place I’m at right now. Which leads to how Melissa and I got here. The story that I was told was one day Linda (Dandy Don ‘s wife) stopped by to talk to Bobbie and she started to attend Church of Christ and soon Jim and Loretta Criss moved out this way and then they started to come. Some years later Tim married Adele and then they moved out this way and Tim and Adele started to attend. At this time I had been married to Melissa for about five to six months and we were building a home here in the Brooklyn area. Melissa asked me if I believed or would go with her sometime and just try going once or twice. Still I didn’t go. In October of 2002 Melissa was pregnant with Keturah, I was trying to finish our home, working some crazy hours, There would be days when I left and she would be sleeping and when I returned she would be sleeping again. Not my greatest days.

Then I fell and was hurt quite badly and went from seeing Melissa a couple of days a week to 24/7, quite a change. After we moved out here, Adele had asked us if we thought about coming to church? I was thinking more about it at this time. Melissa told me that she was going and I could come if I wanted to, or not. So I did. The first time we walked through the doors of the Church of Christ I felt loved, meeting Bernie, and Bobbie was wearing some purple colored suit jacket, Jim sitting back in the corner wearing a Brown’s jacket. Barb standing and smiling with Mabel. It seemed that every sermon was written for Melissa and I, it would just fit into what was going in our lives and it felt as though we belonged. It was people like Jim Criss, Bernie, Mike G, Mike B, Paulie, Jim, Russ, Bobbie, and Tom who made us feel like someone, it did not matter how poor we were we belonged with that group of people. Someone somewhere had touched or planted the seed

The split did sadden my heart, leaving friends and family to go off but it was for my family and we have bloomed in this place getting to know friends who I now call family, and we have grown as Christians. Which leads me back to how did I get here. Someone planted a seed and the seed grew in a family and that family grew into another which grew into mine and for all I know I could have planted some seeds somewhere along the line, and someone just might join the family. Just because we all don’t live under the same roof does not make us family, we all share the same Father. If someone planted a seed in my life am I doing the same? And what about the rest of us?
Be blessed

Zechariah 8:12
The seed will grow well, the vine will yield its fruit, the ground will produce its crops, and the heavens will drop their dew. I will give all these things as an inheritance to the remnant of this people.

my week off

Well my week off is over today, well it ended yesterday had to work but today I go and pick Melissa up at Metro. It a great but I did miss my wife a lot. I had a lot of fun just spending time with the kids. We just played and played some more after that.
To cap the weekend off we made a last minute trip to my father’s place up north. If I have told you all about my father, is kind of different kind of person, for starters he live on a house boat in the Muskegon river with his cat and kittens and owns the local airport port which is him and every so once the flying in to go the dinner to eat. It is beautiful place up there. He is just happy up there he has no power or running water it the airport or the boat and that's just the way he wants it. When we got there we found ridding his moped around the airport talking to one of his friends that moved up there and he was just as happy as could be. The kids got to know he better because we didn’t go north as we should, we did some boating, fishing and cooking over an open fire for dinner and lunch while sitting on the shore looking at the river what a way to top off the week off.
Katie just fell in love with grandpa and his many cats all named Boo all nine of them and Connor just got dirty and played until he could go any more. Have a great week I’m some off to get Melissa. Funny how that works. Last Saturday night Melissa took me out to Ann Arbor comedy club for my birthday, a fun filled evening. While sitting there I looked over to the couple sitting next to us and see the he had on a Carlsberg beer rugby jersey on, which made me smile, being a beer I enjoyed drinking while in Hong Kong. So I had to say something about, like nice shirt and great beer I have more than my share while in Hong Kong, Funny that's where I got it from he told me. Which lead into this conversation how we where both in the navy stationed in the same port about the same and how we both knew some of the same people and how different we used to hang out at. For all I know we could sat on the same bar and even shared a drink and talked for all I know. All because he had chosen to wear that shirt that night. If I was connected to this guy by a bartender named Tac or different friends from former life how else am I connected with everyone else? As we get older our worlds keep getting smaller and smaller. So get connected with life and life will connect with you. I don’t mind spending three dollars a gallon it makes us slow down a bit. What kills me is how it can jump up .20 plus cents over night. So you spend more on gas so we don’t get to eat more often, big deal guess what you spend an evening eat a home cooked meal. Yes I can say that because I do cook at home its not Melissa job its split we both do it. If we get excited about gas at $ 2.70 what are going to do when it jumps but up even higher next and it will just give time. For those who have not meet or seen him he a Rottweiler lab mix about a hundred pound dog. The sight of Keturah walking such a big dog that out weight three times over is funny to see but Jake just walks with me telling him to heal every so often,

The most fun we have is picking flowers for Melissa, we walk by some beautiful flower bed and she does not even give a second look instead so will walk pass to see a flower/weed and that’s the one for mama or anything that anyone else might dismiss as flower but not her. And her asking daddy do snakes bite? Some does baby girl is my answer, but what about little ones. All the time just looking for the right one to pick to give to her mom.

As Keturah walks Jake she trusts that he will not drag her down the road and that I will not let him drag her along. I know man has used it once before and learned their lesson. But I had to shave so I started hacking away with the pink beast which I would plug in about ten second flat and fight unplug hack away again. Needless to say I the pink one is bad business there men. After destroying my head off to Onsted we when there for rides and bad food. I mainly went for the elephant ears and Melissa for a good hot greasy corn dog or two. There is nothing better than food at fair style setting. Katie went for the pony ride and the giant slide and we stayed away from the other rides. Not trying to judge a book by its cover but looking at people controlling these death machines the spin there the air it just seemed we should just stick the pony ride and super slide and just only Saturday another day is still ahead. I did a patch job a week or so to patched a hole in the muffler. It kind of worked but just so, it still was a patch, quieter but not like new. I used to drive this old El Camino and I used to fix or repair the exhaust once a week I would rip of off or it would break six inches closer once time. I would use just about anything I could find soup cans, stove pipes, hose clamps and wire to pug patch or reconnect it back for another week. Which takes me back to my truck its getter louder, which goes allow with life if we have this problem do you try to ix with so patches wire and band aids or should just stop cut it out and do right from the get go and be done with it. Instead of just trying and trying to mend and fix what just needs to be dealt with the right way. Now that I have been working fulltime it’s kind of settling down the headaches aren’t that bad. I just have a hard time dealing with full drown adults acting like my children fighting over who gets what and if he did more than the next guy. This all was bugging quite a bit I how been looking for way to improve this. For most of you who know me I’m the type to sit and shout and yell to get people go and down there jobs that's just me anymore once a long time yes, now no. Listening to Tom yesterday help a lot by relating it to the people that I work with instead the people that work for me.
But the best thing that has come out of working is that I realize that there a greater need for me to go back to school and finish so that I can give more to the world than working in a big box store. be blessed

One chain saw + Ryan = a large hole in a house

Saturday I meet up will an old friend from back when I was building, he lives on a log home and way back then told me he wanted a sliding door in his home. We had crossed path a couple of time since that but just in passing. Until he called and asked of anyway I could come out work on his home, to get it ready for his daughter's graduation party and how he needed the door installed. And so I did I measured once and twice to see that I didn't miscut my opening because can't put it back after you run a chain saw through some logs. When I first fired up the saw the smell of a 2 stroke fumes was bringing right back where I was three years ago. It was like I never put a saw down. It went great eight hours later I left a huge mess and I mean huge mess. The mess I can make in just a few short hours with a saw is just huge. But Bud (the homeowner) was just as happy as could be. And would let clean up the mess. It just felt great to work on a log home again and I felt it I had never hurt my back until this morning when I was sore. I watched a movie called Last holiday, and I was really impressed with that movie.
It was about a woman who just found that she had three weeks to live and she questioned God why. And she decided to live her life the way she always wanted to.
I just found that I only have forty to sixty years to live. Why do I live like in fear what's coming next just let go of it and enjoy life. Its no secret we are all going to die someday, some sooner than expected and others are just keep on going. So lighted up relax you are going to die, enjoy what time you have left here on earth and spend the next life in the heavens looking down on the world in the kingdom of God and with his people. be blessed

Life is good

Last evening I was driving home from doing some work and I was just mindless driving the radio playing, the sun was setting and I had to slow down for some reason. Just then I looked up to seeing the sun was casting a shadow of huge cross on the roof of a barn. What it was a telephone pole beside the barn, but my thought it was there for those to see fore those who are looking, which lead me to think about how Christ has shown him to me. I believe its like that first smile when my kids first see me for the day how they just light up for the world to see or when Melissa gives that hug and kiss that I need. The more I try to grow closer to God the more he is showing up in my life. At work I come to talk more and more about God and our church or churches in general. Last week I was pumping gas into our van and I started getting upset on how long it was taking to pump gas into the tank it was just taking what seemed like forever, the price of gas is another story we are all going to drive and all buy gas its like getting older and there is not a darn thing we can do at this time. But back to my original thought why did I get mad because I had to stand outside the van for a few extra minutes, was I missing something more importation going on with my life. Why are so busy at doing nothing. We run from place to place and tailgate the car in front of us, when someone does that to me I just lay off the gas and slow up, hey I just trying to do you favor you just didn’t reason it yet. Another eye open thing happened when Jake (the dog) decided at 3:00am he really need to go the bathroom, being the dog that he is he just can’t walk to one spot and just go, he has to keep circling and looking for the one spot he has never visited before would be my one guess. Which in turn gave me a long over do time to look at the sky and look into the stars something I have done in years not since Melissa and I went camping up in the mountains in Oregon. I forgot how beautiful they are. Still why don’t look around to see this wonderful world the He has given us to use for the short amount of time that we are here. Slow down what the big hurry is the extra few minutes that would gain worth in the long run. This world is here for us created by God. And rest was all part of it too . Go sit in the grass and look into the clouds and try see what they could be, we all did once why not again. be blessed.

Genesis 2
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

New job same place

This week I took a new job at Lowes, but the funny thing I do not know want position I will start at. Connor was not feeling well and didn’t want to sleep so I took him to the lazy boy and tried to sleep. But he was rolling and turning back in forth. I finally did sleep then to woke up to find him watching me and touching my face and gently kicking his legs and just watching me. So we sat there and looked and each other for about 30 minutes until he drifted off to sleep again. It’s hard to think that my baby is a year old and how big he has gotten. But you parents all ready know this how soon htey are not little anymore, it seems like yesterday that we were in the hospital and coming home for the first time. It just amazes me how much that our kids have changed all of our lives in every which way of life. I could imagine life with out them of my life without all your children too. I had a doctor appointment and had to kill an hour to get a pills filled. So the kids and I to the park to play, what fun that was and I once started to thinks about how nice it was outside and how much the warmer it has been getting, it gets warmer the closer we come to the sun as go away it gets cooler something we all know. And it works the same with the closer we get to God the closer we are think about you feel about that warm glow the love that we feel, but if we drift away we start to feel closed off from the rest of the world and how much we miss the warmness. But we don’t not have to wait until the next year to be in that warm spot in life, just ask for Him ands he will be there arms wide arm waiting for us. And to think I just wanted to play with the kids in the park and this I ended up thinking about

John 9:5
While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

Habakkuk 3:19
The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.
For the director of music. And what is mental heath Monday I decided that for the best for me to do today is do nothing but spend the day home with my wife and kids. It all started with sleeping in Melissa and the kids let sleep which isn’t something do very often any more with kids in all. I saw that clock and I thought that I have to leave in about thirty minutes and woke up again and saw that class had already started so began mental health Monday. I think that all could use a mental health day it does not need to be any special day just pick one and do it for yourself, shut the phone off, draw the curtains down, leave your car in the garage and take time for yourself and your family. I get days with the kids and so does Melissa but a day off at the same time is getting more rare. Just think is that eight hours at work going make a huge change in the grand scheme in life or is that day going to something that you could or would make a great family memory, I'm shooting for the latter. SO I will enjoy a day of playing with the kids and play guitars with Kati e and play with what Connor does to plays with and the a lunch with Melissa and a great day as family. Enjoy the day because you never know what the next will bring

Is my son normal?

I think there something wrong with Connor, yesterday I was looking at Connor and noticed that he has a defect the same one that I have, its called hypoglutolysis , I know it sounds kind of scary but I think he will be okay in time. It’s like something is eating his butt when he is standing there is no transition from his back to his butt and to his legs. Is there some sort of enzyme that is destroying the adipose tissue there? Should he get some kind of butt implants so he has to go though life without butt? If they can do lips with not our buns. My poor son to be cursed like his father to walk the earth with smaller then normal cheeks, his pants will not stay up and will go though life exposing himself unknowing to what he doing. Why is this so? And to think all this started yesterday he playing and bent over to get a toy off the floor and his plumbers crack was showing with all its pride, because I have to remember his grandfather is a plumber and do small plumbing job and it’s in the jeans. To be passed down though the times father to son and now to grandson.

words

these are words that how I feel sometimes. the first time I heard I felt like it was written for me. Do you ever have a song that just fits you to a T, I that sing is you and it feels it was written just for you, my song is Stained Glass Masquerade by Casting Crowns. I do have problems in my life and try so hard to hide them from most people a few know me and I’ll talk to them. But I tired of hiding them now. Why do we feel that we should push how we feel back, like I’m a man I don’t feel anything. It’s hard to explain why I or we do this.
I know its not easy being married we have been married for almost four years and I still make mistakes. Melissa and I are going though a rough time right now, I love with all my heart and would give the world if I could. I can’t express how I feel sometimes like how I feel and that just leads to more and bigger problems. I walk around like there is nothing wrong and huge thing looms over our heads it and I don’t like that feeling. Is there an easy way out there. The hard way is to make it work out. We us I go to school two days a week then Melissa goes two days week then I works on Friday , Saturday and Sunday and leaves very time for one another. So how do I get more time in the day. I’m tired of beating my head into the ground and going nowhere. Thanks for listening. Keep us in prayers. Also I’m not putting to this there so that everyone might feel sorry for me but maybe that it could help someone else out. In the words of Tom I don’t want to go camp on regular basics

Safe and home

We have made home and all in one piece. Good music and a better message about life and how we live it and which we can go only two choices and you can pick which way to go. I was looking around and seeing all those people doing the same thing as me singing sitting giving praise to the father. A friend told me that it holds about 3,500 people but it felt much smaller than that, which lead to think about something I had read in ACTS verse 2 about the day at Pentecost when all them people could from different places speak different languages came together to hear about our Lord and about 3000 thousand were saved that day. 3000 thousand about the number of people in the same room as I was in listening and praising God in one area. What it must have been like on that day. Brothers and sisters from every walk of life coming together how he must felt to see his children on that day, seeing Peter leading teaching and spreading the word. It just is amazing how that fits into my life. The last couple of weeks Melissa and I have been talking how I feel about being in the slump or rut. I feel when you are driving down an old two-track road and you could let go of the wheel and the truck could just bounce off the sides of rut and still keep going forward just give her some gas and away I would go. But I don’t like that slump it not any fun life just kinda passes, but. Sure you moving forward but are going anywhere. School is getting me down it just seems to go by and by and still. I’m should not complain I have food in the cupboards and gas in the cars and a roof to keep our kids head dry and a great loving wife and two wonderful children. I just don't like thus feeling of being in a rut. So if you could say a prayer for me and for Melissa for having too deal with me. Thanks a happy sheep Ryan

thoughts

I have been working on our basement this week being spring break and all. Keturah and Connor both need new rooms. So I bought a new saw blade for my circular saw and I can’t believe how much better it cuts and the old blade wasn’t that old either. Just a new crosscut blade. Which got me thinking again, dangerous I know but still thinking how the right tool just makes the job so much easier. How in life if we have the right tool we can do just anything in life and that tool is bible and how with everything else in life is right there in front of us. We that we can build bridges that would the world could see and build more homes that families could live in and not just wooden building but loving homes that know about Jesus and how died for you and me. And this because the gift of a son born in a little town in the middle of nowhere. And this started with a new saw blade. That as father we would do anything for our family just as God his giving his only son for me and you and the rest of us out there. Then on to Connor’s Birthday party hard imagine it has been one year so far to darn fast with him. Then next a wonderful dinner with all of our family and friends (thanks to all who worked to get that done, Vera, Kevin Amy and Pete for the photos and any else that was involved. And onward to Sunday morning service, Tom I truly enjoyed that message. Which lead to a fun lunch with the Walshs, Nevins, and our kids at the cowboy, I kind of felt bad for the people who where eating who didn’t know us all them kids just having fun eating talking rather loudly and them all waving at Mr. Jim and Don, and all them napkins used, and a long drive to let the kids sleep. While I was driving I could not help but look at them sleeping in the little mirror and just be amazed how it has came to be that I‘m father to two wonderful children and married to a beautiful wife. And to top off the evening we ended going to the Church of Christ 6:00 pm service. Owen was leading service and he did good job of going a his lesson and it was nice to see some people we have not seen on quite some time and that was just my weekend I can’t wait to see what God has in plan for me this week. Have great week be blessed and smile at your neighbor

Change is Inevitable;
Growth is Optional

I saw this while driving today and this kept going though my mind.I'm growing or staying with my feet stuck in the ground.

Nine months

Yesterday I dawned on my that its has been nine months since the beginning of New Song. A short time but a great time in that. Babies have been born and new ones to come, families have grown closer. Which lead to think again ( the trouble it can lead me to) . In the last nine months I (Melissa and Me) have grown so much closer to so many people its hard explain where once we a part to now we are like all family, I find it hard to go a week without talking to any of my brothers or sister you all have become a huge part of our lives , just as we hope to be a part your lives too. As we go forward looking into what to come, I have faith that all come in time for all of us. Because in that short time we have come so far and think what we happen after just a few short years. As I started this there are many things I like I would like to see changes in. I want and will be a better husband to my great and wonderful wife (Melissa)try to spent more time with her with the TV off and the kids in bed or with a baby sitter. And love my kids more then I thought I could. So I spend most of that time listening to the radio, and boy is there a lot commercial that interrupt good music. I still like to listen to just every type of music out a big part comes from station like K-Love or the Vibe out of Spring Arbor. But even more alarming is the fact that I find more the music I love here is being played on classic rock stations which caught me off guard. Last week I was driving and kept hitting the scan button and came upon two or three songs from Soundgarden (a band form the early to mid 90’s) then those words that was block coming classic rock on Hillsdale classic rock your oldies station for m music.
I AM a classic rocker now. If my truck was a 4X4 could or should have jacked with a free-bird sticker on the back window. What I am I to do now. Grow a mullet if I had hair to grow, wear shirts three sizes to small. Life if full of many decisions to make. May I should just go got Sirius radio or XM and forgot all those stations and remembers I can’t drive 55….

opening day

Today is opening of gun deer hunting season. And it made me think, what does that have to do with buy a new car? Does he have a magical power to get me to pull into that place or just the fact hey look we have a blue gorilla would be enough. Which lead me to remember that earlier they an orange dinosaur out there too, well if that don’t make you want a new car I don’t know what would than. So I stopped one and looked at new trucks, and man do they cost a lot of money, some more than it cost to build my house. Grant I could imagine what I would look driving a brand new F-350 ,4 door , with a power stroke and a long that price kept jumping at wow is all I could think of . But I looked over at my 92 Chevy pickup and thought she is good truck and will run a quite some time to come. Why do I need this thing would it make any happier more is until the first payment comes or that bill from Allstate shows up and enjoy everything that comes with too.

Monday mornings

Last night I stayed up to late again but in my mind it was kinda worth it . One of my favorite movies was on "Pay it forward" I just love that movie the way I feel after watching just huge warmth to my heart. So it got my start thinking ( not always a good idea at times)about what I can do to help the world around me. I came up with a few so far and they go like this. 1 I will go out of my way just to see how someone is doing 2 talk to them and care for what their needs might be. 3 will pray for them and pass on a few good words that come to mind.
Other goal I have started on Sunday is to meet five new people at New Song a week, it worked so far and next I'll meet five new people too, so that nobody will stranger. Also just to help where I can would is at home first then the rest of the world one person at a time. Well that enough of me for one day. Go out tonight and have some fun ....

what she said (wow)

I'm with Wow on the whole weight loss thing. No it’s not Melissa’s and mine wedding
anniversary. It marks the three year mark of falling and breaking a vertebra in my back. And that got me to start to think about some of the most life altering changes in my life.
That’s goes like this
Marrying Melissa
Having kids with Melissa
Going to church and belonging to our church
Breaking my back
Joining the Navy
Buying and building our first home

Which lead me to more thinking that 4 out 6 in that list haves to do with my wife. Even our dog was her idea she wanted a dog I did not and now he is my dog that was to be her dog and he loves me more. So when was hurt she was the one who was there to help out of bed and moved through out our house and help to recover. And for that I’m truly blessed for having a wonderful wife and kids and great church family

Men's night out

Saturday evening a few of us went to a great dinner and a good movie ( I was golf fan it would have been an outstanding movie) I was good time and great fellowship time also . But the evening had to end and I had a good hour drive back home to Brooklyn, I was lucky or unlucky to follow this H2 Hummer home until it turned in Clinton, this was driving about 51 MPH down US 12 I know that they doing construction so I was not trying to tailgate , but the problem grew bigger as this car had a TV in the back facing the rear and I could see this, So I kept finding myself creeping towards this car and tailgating this car . If I don't have a hard enough trying to pay attention for deer I had this TV to look at what is one to do. So I was forced to slow down and enjoy the nice cool air as drove home to find my wife and kids quietly sleeping into the night and it was great day for all.

Crossroad

I'm kind of in the middle of a crossroad and I don't like where I am at now. I found this week that I do not have enough points to get into the nursing program that I wanted to get into. So where does that leave me at? Well I have a couple of places I could go towards. 1 I could stay here at JCC and spend at last two to three more semesters to get more points. 2 try to get into EMU but they only accept nursing students in the fall and I would not like get until next fall 2007.
To me its harder on Melissa because she is waiting on me to get though college so we could get though life just a little easier. Melissa and the kids had safe flight to her mothers in Washington state the kids did just great for flying 9 hours in total to get there. But now the house is so quiet its kind of weird having a home that very little noise is coming from it. Its nice for the first day or two but I already miss the those kids of mine and my wife (can't forget about her). It would be so bad but Jake ( our dog ) makes for poor conversion he just looks the other way and trys to kiss the cats. Soon enough they will fly back home and I will here those daddy and the Conner saying em em em and all will be brighter.

Blue fuzzy

The other night I was feeding Conner a bottle and he had on these blue fuzzy sleeper on and boy they were soft and I got to thinking I need a pair of those.
